2020 Youth Football Parent Meeting
Good evening Western Football families,
I want to apologize for not reaching out sooner, but with the uncertainty of COVID-19 I had hoped to have more information at this point. However we are still currently planning for a 2020 season to start in August (August 10th for tackle) and registration is open. Please go to www.westernfootball.org to sign up today. Please note this could still change as guidance from the MHSAA and the Governor’s office may effect our plans.
There are also other changes in regard to the age we are starting tackle football this year. Through guidance from the MHSAA we are not going to offer tackle football to 3rd grade for the 2020 season. There will be further changes for the 2021 season as well based on this guidance.
I’m certain this, among other items have created questions for you and your players. To help answer these questions the Flag Football Coordinator (Alana) and myself (Jeremy) would like to have an informational meeting for parents on Tuesday July 28, 2020 @ 7:30 pm. We will meet at the Maxson Farms Field (across from the baseball diamonds) and do our best to answer your questions.
Thank you for your patience and looking forward to a 2020 season,
Jeremy
So this will be what?! Flag football?
Letter from Western Youth Tackle Football League Coordinator:
Dear Western Youth Football Families,
This year has brought some changes and youth football won’t be an exception to that. While the Western Youth Tackle Football League is still working through the effects that COVID-19 may have on the league and the 2020 season we are also making other adjustments. As we plan for the 2020 season, we have been working through new MHSAA recommendations in regard to the ages that tackle football should start. This year the league and all teams in the conference will not be offering tackle football for 3rd graders. We have decided that we will continue with 4th grade tackle for one more season to allow for those 3rd graders that played tackle last year to continue to participate.
Registration has been opened up. Participation will be based on the players grade level this fall and will reflect the following choices:
5th and 6th Grade Tackle
4th Grade Tackle
3rd Grade Flag
I am sure there will be lots of questions and I hope to answer them all. At this point my thoughts are to have an informational meeting. I will send out reminders as we get closer to that date.
Click here to register your youth football player(s).
Sincerely,
Jeremy Parker
WYTFL Coordinator
